Investigating helicopters

The students in Heaphy have been looking at the different parts of helicopters and what makes them move. We then made spinners (or rotors) of our own and tested them.

Ready, Steady, Go!

Did it work?

Some blew over the roof of the classroom behind, like a real helicopter, with the help of a big gust of wind.

We have been focusing on predicting and observing in science. We have really enjoyed the experiment today, as we got to taste the M&M's we had left in the packet!

We Love Science!

We have been taking part in some science experiments about air over the last few weeks. We found out that air is all around us and it can move things, including balloons and bubbles.

Here are some photographs of what we did.

Walking Through the Jungle

We have been listening to the story 'Walking Through the Jungle' by Julie Lacome and really liked trying to predict which animal might come next in the story.

We chose an animal from the book to make. Then we used clear plastic boxes which open to make the mouth and used paint and pieces of thin card to cover them. We then added the features from each animals head to create our own snake, tiger or monkey.
